The credit of discovering probiotics or simply 'good bacteria' goes to Russian scientist and Nobel Prize winner, Elie Metchnikoff of the Pasteur Institute in Paris.
In 1907, working in Bulgaria, Metchnikoff was intrigued as to why certain inhabitants of the Bulgarian population lived much longer than others. His research led to discover that the villagers living in the Caucasus Mountains were drinking a fermented yoghurt drink called “Kefir” on a daily basis. His studies found that a probiotic called Lactobacillus bulgaricus improved their health and may have helped the longevity of their lives.
Metchnikoff's pioneering research prompted him and others to look further into probiotics, leading scientists to discover many types of probiotics such as Lactobacillus acidophilus, Saccharomyces boulardii, and Bifidobacterium infantis; all of which have various properties and have different beneficial effects on the body.
In 21st Century the probiotics are packaged in capsule for easy delivery. These capsules provide a protective cover for the bacteria to be be delivered in the gut.
To provide his patients with a high quality probiotic, Dr. Adi Malhotra formulated Simply Biotic and Simply Biotic Plus. He realized that the patients are buying poor quality probiotic with low bacterial count (measured in CFU). This is a disturbing national trend observed by his colleagues in other parts of the country. Both the probiotics are of the highest quality with 10 unique bacterial strains. Simply Biotic Biotic plus has 50 billion CFUs of bacteria while Symbiotic Biotic has 25 billion CFUs. Both of our probiotics, are vegetable “DR” Capsules (Delayed Release). This allows for the capsules to bypass the acid in the stomach and populate the bowels with the beneficial bacterias. The capsules contain no milk, no wheat or soy product. The capsules are shelf stable, and do not need to be refrigerated. All these features make our product one of the best in the market.
Our experience with Simply Biotic and Simply Biotic plus has been amazing. Every day I hear stories of our patients being symptom free and able to carry on normal lives.
